The change from winter to spring means two things: the days will become warmer and longer, and it’s time for the traditional house clean. Before the heat of summer arrives and nature starts blooming, get organised and deep clean your home. It won’t only benefit the house as sorting and cleaning has numerous health benefits. You will feel much better when its completed! Here are 5 essential stages to follow to make spring cleaning quick and effortless.
Stage 1- Planning
Before we begin, we need to get organised. Not many people like to spend the whole day cleaning, so by being organised, you’ll spend less time on it. First, make a list of all the tasks, including the rooms you want to clean and what products you need for each task. Secondly, allocate the tasks to people who live with you, sharing out work will save time. Make sure you all have the correct products and tools organised before you start.
Stage 2 – Sort and de-clutter
Before you start cleaning thoroughly, empty all the cupboards and drawers in the house. It’s time to look at everything you have and decide what you use and what you don’t: kitchen utensils, crockery, food… Only keep what you will use and give away everything else so it doesn’t take up space in your cupboards. Pack all the items you longer want or use into a box and take them to a charity shop or to a family member or friend who can use it.
Stage 3 – Create a fun atmosphere
Think of spring cleaning as if it were a long drive in the car – you need the same things! Be sure to eat and drink enough before starting housework to avoid unnecessary breaks. Also make sure you have easy-to-prepare food in the fridge for lunch so you don’t have to waste time going out to buy something. And most importantly, make playlist to clean to with all your favourite songs.
Stage 4- Clean outside and inside
Spring is also the best time to clean the exterior of your house or flat, such as the roof or garden furniture. It is the perfect temperature to be able to work outdoors, not being too hot or too cold. It’s also the perfect time to de-clutter and clean spaces like the garage or utility room. You can leave these rooms until the end and tackle them all together. Even though they aren’t used as often, it is still very important to maintain hygiene in all corners of the home.
Stage 5- Once all the cleaning is done, it’s time to re-organise!
When we spring clean, we move furniture get to the dust underneath them, we empty shelves and cupboards to wipe down…So it’s the perfect time to think about the re-organising the house and if you want to change anything. Since you’ve already moved and emptied everything, it will only take a few minutes to think about every room and corner of the house. It’s also time to think about introducing spring décor. Once you’ve put everything back in place, have a look and see how you could add a more colourful touch to your interiors for the warmer seasons.
